Here's what's happening:
On Friday, September 11, we will hold our first Kindness Rally! Students are encouraged to wear our school colors, Blue and Gold, to show their support. During two grade-level assemblies, the Peace Squad will perform a skit with the theme "Kindness Grows." They will show how when you do something nice for someone, it causes them to want to do something kind for someone else. Watch the following video to see our inspiration:
I will be kind to everyone.
I will say only kind things to other people.
I will handle my problems in a respectful way.
I will not participate in gossip and rumors.
I will do kind things for other people.
When students sign the pledge, they will receive a certificate and a Be Cool Be Kind keychain to wear on their backpacks, showing that they have made a promise to be kind!
Throughout the school year, students will be encouraged to add "Kindness Flowers" to our garden. If they see someone do something kind for someone else, they can fill out a "Kindness Flower" (a colorful slip of paper, located in all classrooms), sharing what kind act they saw. We will add them to our kindness garden in the cafeteria, and we are excited to see our garden bloom!
Each week, we will randomly select one "kindness flower," and the student who performed the kind act will be our Kind Student of the Week. We will post a picture of each Kind Student of the Week, so check back on this website!
